Native American Nacimientos - Nativity Scenes

November 10, 2017 until January 07, 2018

Adobe Gallery’s annual exhibit of Native Nacimientos has arrived!  This has become a holiday tradition for Adobe Gallery's staff and clients.  The show features a wide variety of Nacimientos: traditional pottery sets from Cochiti, Isleta, Santa Clara, Tesuque and Jemez Pueblos; carved wood sets from Zuni Pueblo and the Navajo Nation; and various individual figurines that will make nice additions to existing sets.

Native American artists create Nacimientos with more purpose and meaning than the average tourist item.  The very first known set was created in the 1950s by Tesuque artist Manuel Vigil to fulfill the need's of his own Pueblo's church.  The storyteller motif that is used in traditional Cochiti sets was originally created in tribute to artist Helen Cordero's grandfather.  Adobe Gallery is pleased to include the works of both of these artists and many more in this exhibit.

This is a growing show -  please check back often for new additions to the show!
