Zuni Pueblo artisan Bessie Boone made this nacimiento diorama in beadwork. She signed the completed work with her name and her age of 85 years. It was purchased directly from her in 1994.
There are seven fully-beaded figures plus a circular beaded design on a rug, all enclosed in a wooden stable. Baby Jesus is beaded and wrapped in a blanket and resting in a wooden cradle. Mary is beaded and seated on a log. Joseph is beaded and standing. There is a beaded shepherd with a yellow shirt on the corner of the diorama; a King in the form of an Eagle Dancer; another King as a Buffalo Dancer; and a third King with a full beaded headdress.
Condition: this Zuni Pueblo Nacimiento Diorama with Beaded Figures is in very good condition
Provenance: from the estate of Dr. Jack and Maryann Adams of Albuquerque, New Mexico
