Alma Concha (1941-) signatureAlma Loretto Concha (1941 - ) was originally from Jemez Pueblo but moved to Taos Pueblo when she married.  At the time that she made this nacimiento, in 1978, she was a resident of Taos Pueblo.  This set includes the Holy Family, Three Kings with their gifts of corn, bread and chile, four animals and an angel.

This nacimiento is included in the first edition of the book Nacimientos: Nativity Scenes by Southwest Indian Artisans by Guy and Doris Monthan, on page 79.  Included with the set is a handmade stable constructed from cardboard boxes, painted, with vigas, and stucco, made by the collector of the set - Alexander E. Anthony, Jr.  The stable will be included with the nacimiento.

 

Condition: after almost 40 years, the set is still in original condition.

Provenance: from the collection of Alexander E. Anthony, Jr. who has owned it since it was made in 1978.
