This original oil painting was created by Leona Turner, a New Mexico artist who worked in Albuquerque for many years and passed away in 2004. Turner traveled around the Southwest extensively, creating excellent plein-air landscapes.
With this piece, Turner offered a depiction of an adobe house at night. Warm light spills out of small windows, casting orange tones onto a coyote fence and a variety of plants. Snow covers the rooftop, the ground, and the mailbox that stands in the foreground. The sky up above is blue-gray, and the mountains in the distance have a nice purple tone. Those who appreciate the land and the architecture of the Southwest will find much to appreciate here.
The painting is signed L. Turner in lower right.
