+ Add Artist to My Preferences
Lawrence Martin Dallas, a wood carver artist, was born in the Hopi village of Moenkipi, Arizona, in 1969. He still resides there today. Larry has been actively carving Katsina dolls since the 1980s. Like many Hopi carvers, he has a repertoire of favored figures, including the Angwushahay'i Katsina (Crow Bride), the Angwusi or Angwuskatsina (Crow Kachina), the Kachin Mana Katsina (Katsina Woman), the Kwikwilyaka Katsina (Mocking Kachina), and the Sowi'ingwkatsina (Deer Kachina). He learned his craft from his uncles, Rousseau Roy, Coolidge Roy, and Silas Roy. Dallas also creates miniature Katsina carvings.
