This set of six prints was made using the works of the Kiowa Six, an influential group of early twentieth century Native American painters from Oklahoma.  Spencer Asah, James Auchiah, Jack Hokeah, Stephen Mopope, Monroe Tsatoke and Lois Smoky comprise the group.  Their style, which evolved from Plains ledger art, has become known as the “Kiowa Style.”  These images often feature ceremonial and social scenes as their subjects.

This set includes one image from each of the Kiowa Six artists. They are all similarly framed and matted. It is rare to find a group of images from each of the artists. The prints are framed identically, using thin carved frames and red mats with black interior bands.
