The KIOWA SIX, Native American Painting Group

The Kiowa Six was an influential group of early twentieth century Native American painters from Oklahoma. Their style, which evolved from Plains Ledger Art, has become known as the “Kiowa Style.” These images often feature ceremonial and social scenes as their subjects.
The group comprised of:
Spencer Asah (1905-1954) Lallo, Little Boy who signed his work as Asah
James Auchiah who signed his work as Auchiah
Jack Hokeah (1902-1969) who signed his work as Hokeah
Stephen Mopope (1898-1974) Qued Koi - Painted Robe who signed his work as Mopope
Monroe Tsatoke who signed his work as Tsa Toke
Lois Smoky (1907 - 1981) Bou-ge-tah who signed her work as Bou-ge-tah
