Nez Perce Corn Husk Bag from E. I. Couse Studio

This corn husk bag is from the studio of E. I. Couse, the famous Taos artist of the early 20th century.  It was purchased by the current owners from Fenn Galleries, Santa Fe, in 1991. There is a lead-secure tag from Fenn Galleries as well as the original sales ticket specifying the provenance to the Couse studio.

The current owner, a fine wood worker, made a wood and metal stand to display the bag in an upright position.  The stand will accompany the corn husk bag.

Condition:  The bag is in original excellent condition.  The colors are still vibrant.

Provenance: ex. coll. Illinois collector of native objects
