Artist signature and hallmark of Mark Tahbo (1958-2017) Hopi Pueblo, First Mesa and a member of the Tobacco ClanThis exquisite small seed jar by renowned Hopi-Tewa potter Mark Tahbo showcases the enduring legacy of the Sikyatki Revival. The jar's elegant profile is accentuated by a short, curled neck, creating a sleek and stylish silhouette. Four beautifully rendered Sikyatki bird designs sit above the shoulder, a testament to Tahbo's mastery of this traditional motif. The jar's slip coloration varies from neutral tan to light orange, adding surface variation and visual interest.

Mark Tahbo is a highly acclaimed potter, having won numerous awards at prestigious events such as the Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Museum Indian Fair. In 1991, he achieved the pinnacle of recognition by winning the Overall Prize at the Santa Fe Indian Market.

It's important to note that while Mark Tahbo is a highly respected potter in his own right, he is not directly related to the legendary Nampeyo of Hano. However, both artists have contributed significantly to the rich tradition of Hopi pottery.

This stunning seed jar, dated and signed by Mark Tahbo in 2013, with his Tobacco Clan hallmark, is a testament to his skill and artistry.
