Measuring 4-¾ inches in height and 9-½ inches in diameter, this remarkable historic Zuni bowl was originally created for daily use, yet its well-preserved condition suggests it saw little wear. One of its most striking features is the double-banded interior rim decoration adorned with multiple cross-marks. This intricate design creates an optical rhythm that is both mesmerizing and rare, drawing the viewer's eye inward.

The design transitions dramatically at the bottom of the bowl, shifting to more recognizable traditional Zuni designs, while the exterior features a band of stepped motifs above the shoulder before transitioning to a solid base. The bowl remains in very good condition, with only a single vertical hairline crack extending from the rim to the lower band. This exceptional piece reflects the artistry and ingenuity of Zuni potters, blending functionality with a visually compelling and highly original aesthetic.

Condition: very good condition with one vertical hairline crack from the rim to lower band (see image below).

Provenance: This Historic Zuni Polychrome Bowl with Remarkable Double Rim Interior  is from a private collection.
