Three Strand Zuni Fetish Necklace by Tony Lowolle

This three-strand fetish necklace was made by Zuni lapidary artist Tony Lowell. There are 22 fetishes on the longer strand, 20 on the middle strand, and 18 on the shorter strand for a total of 60. There are a variety of animals and a multitude of materials. The animals are strung on a beautiful array of heishi. The strands are tied together and capped with silver cones and provided with a silver hook and clasp. The necklace dates to pre-1975.

I have not found a lot of information on Lowell, however, the sales ticket dated 12/15/1975 from the Museum of New Mexico Museum Shop provides the name of the artist, so we accept their attribution.
