Henry Naha (b.1964) - Navajo/Hopi, Spider/Lizard Clans
Henry Naha resides in the village of Moenkopi on the Hopi Reservation. He has been carving since 1986 when he was instructed by Cecil Calnimptewa, Dennis Tewa, and Joseph Dallas. "Henry grew up a member of the Spider and Lizard Clans in the village of Moenkopi on the western side of the Hopi Reservation. He kept watching his neighbor Cecil Calnimptewa, as he carved Katina dolls. In 1986, when Henry was twenty-two years old, Cecil helped Henry get started in carving. Henry learned quickly. He soon discovered his natural talents. He specialized in one-piece contemporary carvings. ‘His carvings are always very fine with stunning detail. He is best known for his carved wings.' (Packards on the Plaza)." Schaaf, 2008:213
