Suina (b.1947- ) Spotted FawnIn this 9-piece nacimiento – nativity scene, Mary and Joseph are kneeling by the Christ Child resting on a cradleboard.  Mary has a shawl over her head and she is wearing a traditional pueblo dress with a sash around her waist.  Joseph wears a traditional pueblo shirt and has a blanket tossed over a shoulder.  The Christ Child is dressed in a button up shirt and trousers with pockets and he has a necklace.  The set is signed Spotted Fawn ’87 R.R.S. Cochiti Pueblo, N.M.

 

The Three Kings appear to represent Pueblo, Navajo and Plains Indian Tribes.  One holds a pair of pueblo moccasins and has a blanket draped over his shoulder.  Another one has a Navajo blanket over his shoulder and another one as a gift.  The Plains Indian figure has a feathered head bonnet and a bow and arrows.  There is a donkey loaded with a stack of fire wood and a cow that is resting on the ground.
