Joyce is the great-granddaughter of Tseatsung; granddaughter of Ethel Jusnempsi Honie and Thomas Honanie; daughter of Dorothy Nasoftie and George Nasoftie; niece of Molly Talas; sister of Emily Quanimptewa, Frazier Nasaftie, Rena Taliemptewawa, Zaza Gates, George Nasaftie; wife of Morgan Saufkie; mother of Ruby Lovell Saufkie and six other children. Joyce Saufkie learned her weaving skills from her aunt Mollly Talas and her Mother Dorothy Nasafotie. Joyce Ann is a top-prize-winning Hopi basket weaver. She learned to make plaques at the age of 15. Joyce Ann's forms include plaques, poota, wedding plaques, bowls, Easter baskets, ollas and bird effigies with designs of Katsina's Mudheads, clouds, butterflies, feathers, and corn.
