Dolores Curran: A Master of Miniature Pottery
Hailing from Santa Clara Pueblo, Dolores Curran is a distinguished artist renowned for her unique pottery designs. Each of her creations is an original masterpiece, tailored specifically to the piece of pottery she is working on. Rather than recording her designs, Dolores chooses to let her creativity flow freely, ensuring that she never duplicates her own work. Her designs are not merely applied to the pottery; they are meticulously crafted to complement and enhance each individual piece.
Dolores's journey with pottery began at a tender age of nine, and since then, she has specialized in the art of miniature pottery. Her intricate designs, coupled with her dedication to originality, have set her apart in the realm of pottery.
In 1977, Dolores, originally from Santa Clara Pueblo, embraced a new chapter of her life when she married and relocated to Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo. Born in 1954, Dolores shares her passion for miniature pottery with her sister, Geri Naranjo. The artistic gene runs deep in the family, with Dolores's daughter, Ursula Curran, also following in her mother's footsteps to create exquisite miniature pottery. The Curran family's collective talent and dedication to their craft are truly remarkable.
