Estefanita (Stefanita) Herrera of Cochiti Pueblo was apparently one of the earliest contemporary potters to produce jars with birds and animals attached. Among Stefanita's granddaughters are Ada Suina and Snowflake Flower.
Estefanita Arquero Herrera was known for her large storage jars. She was active in the ceremonial life of the Pueblo. Lange recorded her as a member of the Ku-sháli (Clown) Society. Her style of lizard effigy ollas influenced other Cochiti potters, including Seferina Ortiz with her lizard canteens and Martha Arquero with her frogs.
