Lois Gutierrez, Santa Clara Pueblo Potter

Lois Gutierrez de la Cruz is an accomplished Santa Clara Pueblo potter. Lois is one of the few Santa Clara artists producing polychrome pottery, decorating her jars in a multitude of colorful design elements. The Gutierrez family was one of the 14 families who settled at the pueblo in 1934. The family includes many talented potters—Lois' mother, Petra, and her sisters, Gloria Garcia (Goldenrod), Thelma Talachy, Lupita Gutierrez and Minnie Vigil all are recognized artisans. Lois has received many awards for her work, pehaps most notably a Santa Fe Indian Market "Best of Show" prize.
