Clara Lee Tanner

Clara Lee Tanner was the author of countless articles and books on Indian arts, crafts, and religion. In 1971 she was named Woman of the Year by the Arizona Press Women. She had studied the Indians of the Southwest for more than forty years, doing continuous research as she traveled extensively among the tribes. She had been on the faculty of the University of Arizona department of anthropology starting in 1928.
