Joe S. Sando (1923-), Jemez Pueblo, Historian

Joe S. Sando, born into the Sun Clan at Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico, in 1923, is the author of several books on Indian history.  He is currently Director of Archives, Pueblo Indian Study and Research Center, at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque, and serves as consultant to the National Museum of Indian History in Washington, D.C.  Sando, educated at Eastern New Mexico State University and at Vanderbilt, has taught Pueblo history at the University of New Mexico, and was an instructor in ethnohistory at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe.
