James A. McKenna (1851 - 1941), also known as Uncle Jimmie, lived a lifetime in the great Southwest. He and a friend, W.J. Hamlett (Oxy Bill) wrote stories in Hamlett's blacksmith shop in Silver City. Oxy Bill says that he and Uncle Jimmie put stories together on scraps of paper in the blacksmith show years ago. Sometimes they got help from members of the Spit and Whittle club of Kingston.
