Martha Arquero, Cochiti Pueblo Potter
+ Add Artist to My Preferences
Cochiti Pueblo artist Martha Arquero has followed in the pottery making footsteps of her famous mother, Damacia Cordero, in wonderful crafting of animal figurines. She is best known for her frog storytellers, but she makes many other figurative shapes. Her sisters, Josephine Arquero and Maria Laweka, are also figurine potters.
Adobe Gallery had a collection of animals by Martha Arquero (b. 1944) at our first Pueblo Storyteller exhibit at the Albuquerque gallery in 1982. It included a camel, kangaroo, elephant, moose, dinosaur, snake, and frog storyteller.
