+ Add Artist to My Preferences
Hopi Pueblo artist Lester Quanimptewa is unique in carving three different styles simultaneously: traditional or Old Style, one-piece, and sculptures. His artistic ability was recognized and honored when he won Best of Show and a mountain of other awards. Lester is also a wonderful teacher and mentor. He teaches young carvers the tradition.
Lester Quanimptewa (1962- ) started activively carving Katsina Dolls about 1978 until present day. He is the husband of Carol Quanimptewa; father of two girls; stepfather of Jimson Lalo; related to Fernanda Honanie; perhaps related to the elder Lester Quanimptewa and daughter Mary Quanimptewa.
