+ Add Artist to My Preferences
Cochiti Pueblo artist Mary Trujillo learned to make pottery storyteller figurines from Helen Cordero, her mentor and mother-in-law. Helen has taught her well as Mary is one of the most accomplished potters at Cochiti Pueblo. Mary has been making storyteller figurines since the early 1980s and her husband Leonard Trujillo has helped her. Mary has passed what she learned from Helen to her daughter Geraldine Trujillo.
Mary Trujillo (1937- ) was originally from Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo (formerly San Juan Pueblo), the daughter of José and Leonidas Cata Tapia. When she married Leonard Trujillo (son of Helen Cordero), she moved to Cochiti Pueblo and has lived there ever since
