Hopi Material Culture: Artifacts Gathered by H. R. Voth in the Fred Harvey Collection

Publisher: Northland Press, Flagstaff, and the Heard Museum, Phoenix

First Edition, paperback 1979

127 pages, illustrated

From the Preface

"The specimens in this collection are those items collected by the Reverend H. R. Voth, Mennonite missionary, for the Fred Harvey Company. The catalog does not pretend to be an exhaustive study of Hopi material culture nor a linguistic treatise, but rather an explanation of the artifacts in a single collection. This effort incorporates not only the identification from Voth's catalog but attempts to place the artifact in historical perspective and position within the culture, despite the fact that often associated parts may be missing. As well, native terms for the items are listed."
