LIFETIME FURNITURE Puritan Motif 1918 Catalog
Grand Rapids Bookcase and Chair Co., Hastings, Michigan
Softcover, 2002 reprint of 1918 catalog by The Parchment Press, Maplewood, NJ
This reprinted catalog, which is not dated but apparently was issued to the trade in 1918, is interesting for several reasons. The catalog features Lifetime Furniture exclusively in the Puritan motif. The contrast between the Puritan motif and the company's earlier, heavier Cloister style is striking. Some of the furniture pieces in the Puritan motif are unusual and probably quite rare, such as the No. 1009 Tea Table, the No. 14 Work Box, and the No. 762½ Day Bed. It is also interesting that Lifetime Furniture in the Puritan motif was so successful commercially so late in the Arts and Crafts period.
