From the Publisher’s Preface

“This is a great book to read; it is really three great books in one, so to speak.  It is (1) an account of some of the experiences of an Anglo Indian Agent to the Pueblo Indians of New Mexico; (2) a brief account of the Spanish conquistadors who explored and colonized the Rio Grande valley, and (3) a 21-gun broadside blast at New Mexican politics and politicians, as they related to the Indians, from 1919 to 1926.  The author writes of Indians under the Spanish flag, then of the Indians under the rule of Mexico, and then of the Indians who became United States citizens after the war with Mexico—or did they?
