Joseph Tapia (1959-1991) attended Bacone College in Oklahoma. In 1986 he won a 1st Place award at Santa Fe Indian market for a painting and in 1989, he picked up a 2nd Place award also at Santa Fe Indian Market. He was recognized as an outstanding artist with a successful career ahead. It is not difficult to see why he won awards at Santa Fe Indian Market when one looks at the finite detail in every aspect of his paintings.
