Clyde Honyouti, also known as Na-uikuitaka (Peeping Out Man), is a pivotal figure in the world of Katsina doll carving, his artistic influence profoundly shaping the careers of his sons, renowned carvers Ronald and Brian. From his early days herding sheep, when he would transform found pieces of wood into captivating figures, Honyouti's artistic journey has been one of dedication and innovation. This early practice evolved into the Honyouti family's signature "one-piece" masterpieces. Today, much of Clyde's significant body of work resides in private collections, making it a rare and treasured glimpse into the evolution of this art form.
