Mary Rose has distinctive features that are characteristic to her storyteller and nacimiento figures. The mouths of the figurines are oval rather than round; she uses native clays and slips for paints, but adds a commercial turquoise color for highlights such as jewelry.


Mary Rose Lucero is the granddaughter of Narciso and Magelita Lucero; daughter of Margaret Lucero; sister of Carol Lucero-Gachupin, Betty Ann, Gloria; mother of Diane, William and Joyce Lucero grandmother of Erwina. Mary taught both Diane and Joyce the art of pottery making. Mary Rose as won awards and has been several publications.
