Marie Edna Coriz [b.1946] from Jemez Pueblo married Lucianco Coriz of Kewa Pueblo (formerly Santo Domingo). Marie is the daughter of Louis and Carrie R Loretto; sister of Mary Toya, Alma Maestas Concha, Leonora Lupe L. Lucero, Fannie Loretto and Dorothy Trujillo. Coriz started making Storytellers, traditional polychrome jars, bowls and figurines in the early 1970s. Marie expressed what Storytellers mean to her: " Storytellers show that Indian people have a lot of character and would like to share their humanity and pride with all people. Stories are important to us because that is our way of life..." [Babcock 1986:58]
