Artist Kenneth Begay has been called the Father of Navajo Jewelry by art historian and writer Dexter Cirillo. He worked for almost 20 years at the famous White Hogan Gallery after which he managed the Navajo Nation Arts and Crafts Guild.
From 1968 to 1973 he served as a jewelry instructor at Navajo Community College in Many Farms, Arizona where he influenced a new generation of jewelers. Kenneth Begay's (1913-1977) work is regarded as some of the finest and most sought after of Navajo jewelers.
