Santa Clara Pueblo potter Christina Naranjo was mentor to and mother of Mary Cain. Mary Cain's grandmother and matriarch, Sara Fina Tafoya, was also a mentor to the entire family and Pueblo. This famous family produced several generations of truly outstanding potters and its younger generation is still very productive and incredibly famous.
Christina Naranjo (1891-1980) is very collectible because of her workmanship and famous family history in Pueblo pottery making.
Mary Cain (1915-2010) Blue Rain actively made redware and blackware since 1930. She was taught by her mother, Christina Naranjo and her grandmother, Sara Fina Tafoya. She won numerous awards throughout the years and her pottery items continue to remain much sought after by collectors around the world.
