Chad Burkhardt

Chad Burkhardt is a collector and expert of Pueblo culture and lifestyle. He is an artist of those subjects as well.  "Original Cover Art for "The Moki Snake Dance" which Avanyu Publishing, Inc. commissioned in 1992 for the book  The Moki Snake Dance by Walter Hough, Ph.D.

 
"As I always do when I am unsure about a katsina doll, I consult with Chad as I feel he is the single most authority of the subject of Katsina dances and culture and the one person who is consistently able to identify Katsina dolls..  I have known Chad since he was about 10 years old and he would come to the Albuquerque gallery and stand in front of the 10-foot showcase full of Katsina dolls and proceed to name each of them.  It was remarkable that a person of that age was so knowledgeable and interested in such an esoteric subject."
