Alvina Yepa (1954- )

Alvina Alvina, Jemez Pueblo, is an award-winning artist at Santa Fe Indian Market, Eight Northern Indian Pueblo Arts & Crafts Show, Gallup Inter-tribal Indian Ceremonial, and Heard Museum Show. She specializes in stone-polished redware.

I must admit that we do not see too many contemporary pottery jars from Jemez Pueblo since we do not normally represent living artists, but if I were to judge Jemez contemporary pottery by this example from Alvina Yepa, I would have to say it has certainly improved in the last 20 years from what would be considered real tourist wares. -Alexander E.
