Unfortunately this large pottery storage jar from Zia Pueblo was knocked off a table and broken into numerous pieces.  Fortunately, a conservator has put it back together.  The repairs are not visible on the exterior but can be determined from the interior, a typical technique that allows a viewer to see where repairs were made.

In our opinion, this would have had a value of $12,000 before being broken.  Now, it is priced at about 1/3rd of that vaule.  It is still an impressive, very large jar, and makes quite a statement.  It dates to around the 1930s.

Condition: restored

Provenance: from the inventory of the former Hanging Tree Gallery, Albuquerque, NM, which closed in 2013.
