Louis and Virginia Naranjo started making these wall mounted fonts in the 1980s and said they were used by pueblo residents for sacred corn meal and by others for holy water or even business cards.  It can either be hung from a nail using the leather strap or more securely by attaching more permanently to the wall with screws.

I believe that Louis and Virginia were the first potters to make these wall-mounted containers with animal heads on the front.  I am sure it was Louis who came up with the idea as he was very creative artistically.

Condition: new condition

Provenance: the current Santa Fe resident purchased this from Virginia shortly after Louis had passed away in 1997.  It was not signed at that time so Virginia signed it with her name.  It was most likely made by Louis and Virginia working together.
