In consultation with a former manager of the Case Trading Post of the Wheelwright Museum, we learned that this young man, Calvin Analla, Jr., is a brother of Yvonne Lucas, wife of Steve Lucas of Hopi.  Yvonne was formerly from Laguna Pueblo.  We learned that this potter makes a mixture of clay from Laguna and Hopi for his pottery.  We also found out that he is not a prolific potter, so his finished works are relatively rare.

Artist Signature of Calvin Analla Jr., Laguna Pueblo PotterThis bowl is extraordinarily thin walled.  It has a burl wood finish that is beautiful.  The bowl is a warm orange/tan color.

Calvin Analla, Jr. was born in 1960 and lives in the Laguna Pueblo village Paguate.  He created his unique pottery finish through the mix of clay from the Hopi villages and from his Laguna Pueblo village.  He has progressed in his work by adding painted designs to his newer pottery, however, the finish of this bowl would be overshadowed by painted designs.  It is beautiful in the plain state in which it exists.
