This large micaceous bowl by Virginia T. Romero, a renowned Taos Pueblo potter, exemplifies the timeless tradition she dedicated her life to preserving. The bowl showcases a striking firecloud that extends from the base, with a subtle firecloud echo just above the shoulder-a testament to the centuries-old firing process that emphasizes the delicate artistry of pottery. The form, slightly irregular yet undeniably purposeful, features a sharp curve at the shoulder and an inward-curling rim, lending it a strong and distinctive character. The natural sparkle of the micaceous clay provides a consistent glow, further enhanced by the contrasting tones at the base where the fire clouds originate. This particular bowl is published in Grounded in Clay: The Spirit of Pueblo Pottery.
