Stella Teller Isleta Pueblo 12 Piece Pottery Nacimiento [SOLD]

This nacimiento consists of twelve individual pieces. There is the Holy Family—Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesús—with Mary wearing a finely decorated blanket, a turquoise necklace, and with her hair tied in a chonga in the back, with Joseph standing, wrapped in a blanket which is secured by his hands, and wearing a turquoise necklace and traditional moccasins, and with Baby Jesus snugly wrapped in a blanket in a cradleboard.

The Three Kings are dressed in traditional pueblo clothing.  The first King is kneeling, wearing a turquoise necklace, and carrying a plate of turquoise as a gift for the baby.  Another King has a blanket draped over his shoulder and another blanket draped over his right arm which is meant as a gift for the baby.  He also has a turquoise choker.  The third King is wrapped in a blanket and is wearing a turquoise necklace.  He is holding a pair of traditional moccasins for the baby.

The animals include a donkey with its head turned sideways, a cow with its eyes closed tightly, a mountain sheep with beautiful curved horns, a sheep lying down, a ewe with its head slightly turned, and, unique to nacimientos by Stella Teller, a full-grown pig.  No other potter includes a pig in her nativity sets.
