Santa Clara Large Wide Body Red Carved Jar by Jason Ebelacker [SOLD]

This magnificent wide polished red jar with carved design was made by Jason Ebelacker, great-grandson of Margaret Tafoya. Jason traditionally makes thick walled pottery to provide for carving deeply into the clay body. In this example, he carved an Avanyu figure on the wide shoulder of the jar. To highlight the polished red Avanyu, Jason added a cream color pigment to the background. This jar is large and magnificent.
