Most collectors are aware that Jennie Trammel made fewer pottery items than any of the other daughters of Margaret Tafoya. She had a full-time job away from the pueblo and had little time for making pottery. Interestingly, she was absolutely a phenomenal potter and produced the most beautiful red carved wares of the 20th century.
This red bowl is of the quality collectors expected of her. It was beautifully formed and expertly carved. The deep red slip was burnished to perfection.
Provenance: From the home of the artist. When Trammel passed away in 2010, her house was locked up and only recently have her daughters begun to clean it out. There were several finished pottery vessels and two unfinished ones. This is one of the bowls from her home.
