Sandcast silver jewelry is recognized as a distinctly traditional Navajo technique. To make sandcast pieces, molten silver is poured into a mold. The mold is good for only one item. It is a complicated process, with every piece unique.

This pin - pendant is in the shape of a naja, a crescent shaped design that many believe originated with the Moors and came to the Southwest with the Spanish. Regardless of its origin, the naja has become associated with the Navajo. To this naja the artist has added a lovely small piece of turquoise. It is designed to be worn either as a pin or as a pendant suspended on the hand-made silver chain.

Condition: Both pendant and chain are in excellent condition.
