This petite dish, a gem of San Ildefonso black pottery, captures a delightful tableau of a Roadrunner in its natural habitat. The bird, known for its speed and agility, is depicted mid-stride, darting amongst a diverse collection of cacti. A towering saguaro stands sentinel, its iconic silhouette instantly recognizable, while a cluster of barrel cacti adds to the desert landscape's authenticity. Nestled amongst these desert denizens is a lone yucca plant, its spiky leaves reaching towards the sky. The Roadrunner, with its tail held high and head pointed forward, seems to be on a mission, adding a sense of dynamic movement to the scene.
