Probably one of the most difficult pueblos from which to find an older, historic piece of pottery is Picuris Pueblo. It is difficult to determine if an older piece of micaceous pottery was made at Picuris or Taos.

This Southwest Indian Pottery bowl actually came from Picuris Pueblo, so its source of origin is pretty well established. The previous owner had it in his possession for more than 65 years. It does not appear to have been used for cooking or as a container. The inside is still pretty clean.

Provenance: from the collection of a California family and formerly from a Santa Fe resident
