These two paintings are being offered as a pair. They are matted and framed in the same manner and appear to have been paired since they were painted, so it is appropriate to keep them together for the future.
One of the paintings features three chipmunks foraging around three cactus plants from which some of the fruit is scattered around the area. In the background is a red-outlined butte, typical of the Navajo Reservation landscape.
The second small painting is a Navajo landscape scene of a single hogan. Off to the right of the hogan is a frame which will eventually be a loom for weaving a Navajo rug. Behind the hogan are buttes of the style seen throughout the Navajo Nation.
Both paintings are signed with the artist name in lower right. Neither painting is dated but both appear to be early works of Beatien Yazz (1928-2012) Little No Shirt - Jimmy Toddy.
Condition: both appear to be in good condition but neither has been examined out of the frames.
Provenance: from the estate of a client from New York who collected Native American paintings
