Alfred Aguilar is the son of Rosalie and José Aguilar, who were well-known potters from San Ildefonso Pueblo. He has been a teacher's aide and classroom instructor at San Ildefonso Pueblo and operates a store on the pueblo. Although he is best known for his works in clay, especially his figurines, he is also an accomplished painter.
Aguilar’s talent is apparent in this colorful rendition of a spirited roadrunner. His work as a potter is reflected in the painting as he has created a roadrunner that is festooned with pueblo pottery designs. The roadrunner looks as if he is standing in the rays of a bright desert sun. Aguilar used the contrast of black against reds and oranges to create a vibrant image of the well-loved desert bird. It is signed with the artist’s name on the bottom right side.
Condition: This Original Painting titled "Roadrunner" is in excellent condition.
