Silver tubes, sheet silver, and turquoise were combined in this extraordinary pair of earrings which we must attribute to an unknown Diné of the Navajo Nation artisan because they are not signed with the name of the maker. The sheet silver was oxidized prior to placing the small turquoise cabs in silver bezels. Silver tubing constitutes the three legs of the triangle. Attached to the bottom of the darkened sheet silver backing are five silver bars with silver drops on their tips. The earrings are equipped for pierced ears.

Sterling Silver: an alloy of silver containing 92.5 by weight of silver and 7.5 by weight of other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of .925.
