Rattlesnakes are seen throughout Southwestern lore as either protectors or omens of danger. Whether friend or foe, the snake has held a fascination in the folklore and art of Native Americans, Mexicans and Anglo settlers alike. Snake or serpent motifs are found on prehistoric petroglyph designs as well as in contemporary pottery, weavings and jewelry.
These Navajo Stamped Silver Rattlesnake Earrings were made in the sphere of whimsical and protective. The artist created a swirling serpent in silver. The eyes are stamped and the body has a series of oval designs down its back. The rattler’s tail is made with a series of stamped lines. The final effect is a beautiful undulating snake. The earrings are for pierced ears.
Condition: The earrings are in excellent condition.
