- Medium: silver, turquoise
- Size: 17-½” chain length;
1-⅜” x 1” largest pendant - Item # C4784Q SOLD
Five beautiful solid blue turquoise gemstones, each cut in triangular form, are the spectacular highlight of this necklace made by a Diné of the Navajo Nation artist. Each turquoise gemstone is void of matrix, resulting in a beautiful sky-blue color. Secured on a silver backing and with a silver bezel each pendant is outlined with twisted silver wire.
The handmade silver chain has links that are circular alternating with links that are elongated. The circular links are thin silver wire, and the elongated ones are thicker silver wire. This contrast provides a chain of substantial weight appearance.
There is a hallmark of R.B. inside of a Bear symbol. According to Bille Hougart in their book Little Book of Marks on SOUTHWESTERN SILVER: the Running Bear hallmark is a shop or retail mark. This represents a wholesale shop in Gallup, New Mexico. In addition, they were doing business as Running Bear Trading. We don't know the name of the silversmith.
The necklace is elegant and sophisticated and will appeal to anyone who prefers simplicity to busyness.
Condition: very good condition
Provenance: this Diné Silver Chain Necklace with Five Turquoise Pendants is from the collection of a client of Adobe Gallery
