Highly detailed, this necklace features nine square turquoise stones of a greenish-blue hue, which is characteristic of turquoise from the Ralston mine in Nevada. The stones feature beautiful orange and brown veins throughout, which makes for a very dynamic experience when viewing the necklace.
To indigenous people, turquoise is considered a sacred gemstone. Long ago, Native Americans mastered the art of making jewelry containing the gemstone, and the tradition has been carried on for generations. To many, it is associated with communication with the spiritual realms, good fortune, and healing.
Seen connecting each turquoise stone are little ribbed beads, which add to the uniqueness of the piece and make it highly captivating. These beads and the rest of the necklace are made of silver, a very important metal to the Navajo people. The necklace likely dates to the 1930s.
The backside of the necklace is unsigned.
Condition: very good condition
